Minecraft needs more long range weapons which i got from a comment. And guns do go against it but old guns I dont know. Maybe we can add a Rope Dart and I shall explain.

Rope Darts are like fish rods but are very powerful. When thrown at a enemy the enemy is quickly damaged and brought to you. If skilled enough you can draw your sword and attack then redo the process. Heres a Minecraft story to explain further more.
Tim had finally killed enough pigs for thanksgiving and now just needs some cows and fish. He left the snowy biome and entered the forest and saw a zombie. He quickly got his rope dart and thrown it at the zombie. The zombie was coming at him while dieing and so TIm drew his Flintlock pistol and shot the zombie. Tim was safe so he refilled his Flintlock with gunpowder so he can use it later.
